One of the few youth rugby options in the Lodi area. Skyhawks Flag Rugby is non-contact (flag pulling instead of tackling) and runs through Lodi Parks and Rec at Hutchins Street Square West Park, $177 resident / $194 non-resident. Ages 6-13. Curriculum covers passing, catching, evasion, and the structured flag-pulling defensive play that makes flag rugby distinct from flag football. Lodi parents pick this when their kid wants something different from soccer/football/basketball, when they want an active sport that emphasizes evasion and ball-handling (more so than football, which emphasizes power and routes), or when they want exposure to a sport that scales internationally and could become a college niche if pursued.
