San Joaquin County Historical Society
Lodi's local historical museum, on an 18-acre campus in Micke Grove Park. Over 150 years of San Joaquin County history through eight exhibition buildings and four historic structures, including an 1847 pioneer cottage and 1866 one-room schoolhouse that kids can walk through. $5-$7 admission (free for members). Lodi parents pick this when they want a structured local history experience that ties into their kid's school curriculum (4th grade California history especially), when grandparents are visiting and they want a low-stress educational outing, or when they want a free or near-free outdoor activity (the campus itself is part of Micke Grove Park — bring a picnic). Different from WOW Museum in obvious ways: outdoor, historical, less hands-on; better for older kids who can absorb context.
