UC Cooperative Extension / 4-H
Lodi's 4-H youth development club, ages 5-18. Part of UC Cooperative Extension and San Joaquin County 4-H. Hands-on projects in agriculture, animal science, citizenship, cooking, sewing, public speaking, and many more — kids pick projects each year based on their interests. Approximately $60/year for the full membership. Lodi parents pick this when they want a youth organization with deep agricultural roots that fits Lodi's farming community context (many local 4-H members raise animals for the County Fair), when they want a cheap multi-year activity that scales from kindergarten through high school, or when they want their kid in a project-based learning environment where the kid drives the curriculum. The County Fair animal projects are a real differentiator — kids who raise a steer, lamb, or hog go through serious responsibility training.
