Teen Extracurriculars in Lodi: What Actually Exists

Most programs stop at age 12. Here's what older kids can still join, from competitive sports to martial arts to creative outlets.

The reality: most programs end at middle school

Lodi has plenty for elementary kids. But once your child hits 13 or 14, the options shrink fast. Most rec league sports cap at 12. Dance studios skew young. Even camps often stop at age 12. If you're looking for something structured that isn't a high school team, you'll need to be strategic.

Competitive sports (if they're serious)

[Lodi FC Competitive Soccer](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/lodi-fc-competitive-soccer) runs through age 18 and competes in NorCal Premier and Cal North leagues. Player-first development philosophy, focused on skill over just winning. If your teen plays club soccer, this is the main Lodi option.

[California Gold Swim Club](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/california-gold-swim-club) is USA Swimming-affiliated and trains at Lodi-area pools for ages 3-18. Central Valley's top-ranked competitive swim program. Serious training for serious swimmers.

For football, [Jr Flames Tackle Football](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/jr-flames-tackle-football) goes through age 14 in the CVYFC (Central Valley Youth Football Conference). More competitive than Lodi Colts, with regional travel.

Martial arts: the most consistent teen option

Martial arts studios are one of the few categories that actually want older kids. [JG Academy Lodi](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/kid-s-jiu-jitsu-10-13years-old) runs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for ages 10-13, with technical training that transitions into adult-level BJJ. [Strive Jiu Jitsu Academy](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/strive-jiu-jitsu-academy) covers ages 3-17 with programs for older teens. [Cutting Edge Martial Arts](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/cutting-edge-martial-arts) teaches Taekwondo for ages 4-17 under a 6th Degree Master. [Robinson's Taekwondo](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/robinson-s-taekwondo) has been in Lodi since 1975 and runs programs through age 17.

Creative outlets

[Next Level Dance & Cheer Academy](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/next-level-dance-cheer-academy) goes through age 18 with recreational and competitive teams. Faith-based, higher-end training.

[LMT Performing Arts](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/lmt-performing-arts) is Lodi's community musical theater for ages 5-18. Teens get cast in real productions (not just chorus roles), with singing, acting, and dancing components.

[Changing Faces Theater Company](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/changing-faces-theater-company) runs a Drama Club split into two tracks: ages 8-11 and ages 12-15. Improv, acting fundamentals, and performance work. $175 for 8 weeks.

[Sayla Music Academy](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/sayla-music-academy) offers private lessons in almost every instrument (piano, guitar, drums, violin, voice, plus composition and music theory) for ages 5-18. Downtown Lodi location, flexible scheduling.

Rec sports that still work

[SV6 Sports NFL Flag Football](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/sv6-sports-nfl-flag-football) runs through age 14 on Sundays at Lodi Grape Bowl and Tokay High. NFL-licensed, 5v5 non-contact games.

[Blue Chip Flag Football](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/blue-chip-flag-football-fall) also goes through age 17 (co-ed and all-girls GEMS divisions) at Tokay High School on Sundays.

[Youth Bowling League](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/youth-bowling-league) at Lodi Bowl accepts ages 5-17 on Saturday mornings. $12 per session, all skill levels.

Free programs

[Teen Programs at Lodi Boys & Girls Club](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/teen-programs) is one of the only truly free options for ages 13-18. Open Monday through Friday 2pm-6pm and 7pm, with leadership development, college prep, STEM, sports, and arts. Free membership, free programming.

[OEG Camp Summer](https://lodikidsactivities.com/programs/oeg-camp-summer-both-june-july-2026) is a free full-day summer camp for ages 12-16 at Legion Park. 7am to 6pm, June through July.

What to do next

Pick 2-3 programs based on what your teen already gravitates toward. If they've done a sport through middle school, check if the competitive version runs older. If they're creative, theater and music have more longevity than most activities. Martial arts is the safest bet for something structured that doesn't age out.
